The 4th Tank Brigade still held the village of Voin, just south of Mtsensk, as the Soviets continued their efforts to halt the Germans. With a screen of Soviet troops positioned at the river crossing of the Lisiza River, the 4th Tank Brigade was ordered to engage the German "Brigade Eberhard" as they advanced eastward.
